WASHINGTON D.C. – May 28, 2021 marks the 103rd anniversary since the creation of the first democratic Republic in the Muslim world. A century ago, the People of Azerbaijan kindled the bright torch of independence and sown the first seeds of democracy, declaring universal values and equality as core values for the newly established Republic.
To honor Azerbaijan’s Republic Day and thirty years of Azerbaijan’s Independence, the U.S.-Azerbaijan Chamber of Commerce (USACC) and the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the United States co-hosted a flag-raising ceremony and a diplomatic reception. The event started with raising the national flags of both countries over the USACC’s headquarters in historic Georgetown and followed by congratulatory remarks by U.S. and Azerbaijani officials.
USACC’s co-chairman Mr.Reza Vaziri welcomed the guests at the USACC and invited Ambassador Elin Suleymanov for congratulatory remarks. Ambassador spoke about the importance of this day and the role of the first republic in Azerbaijan’s history. Since the restoration of Azerbaijan’s independence thirty years ago, Azerbaijan and the United States have been successfully partnering in a variety of fields from regional security to global energy affairs, said Ambassador.
The reception was attended by U.S. Government officials, foreign diplomats, and business community members. Deputy Assistant Secretary of State George Kent and Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense Laura Cooper who were among the guests delivered congratulatory remarks and praised the partnership and friendly ties between the United States and Azerbaijan.
The United States-Azerbaijan Chamber of Commerce, Inc. (USACC) is a 501(c)6 trade association established in 1995. USACC promotes trade and business linkages between the U.S. and Azerbaijan through annual conferences, trade missions and renders business services tailored to the needs and expectations of businesses.
